Before-and-after photos: permission, honesty and consistency

By Growth Partner Venture · Published · 2 min read

Before-and-after photos build trust only when they are honest. Get the homeowner’s permission, shoot both from the same angle and light, and never edit in features that are not really there.

Plan the “before” on day one

The before shot is easy to forget. Make it part of your site measuring routine: photograph each space from fixed corners and note the positions.

Match angle and light

  • Stand in the same spot for the after photo
  • Use similar time of day or lighting
  • Keep the same lens and height where possible

Edit lightly

Correct exposure and straighten lines, but do not add furniture, views or finishes that were not delivered. Misleading images damage trust when buyers visit.

Permission and privacy

Ask in writing whether you can publish the photos, and remove anything personal before posting.
